Khalin Joshi, Chikkarangappa make the halfway cut at Asian Tour's Final Stage Qualifying

Khalin Joshi and Chikkarangappa were the two Indian golfers who made the halfway cut at the Final Stage of the 2014 Asian Tour Qualifying School. Joshi was the highest-placed Indian in tied 54th with a two-day total of two-under-141. Chikkarangappa was next best in tied 71st position as his total stood at one-under-142. PGTI member Kunal Bhasin of Australia lies tied sixth at seven-under-136. Americans Jarin Todd and Paul Peterson were the joint leaders with matching totals of nine-under-134.

The cut was declared at one-under-142. A total of 82 players successfully progressed to the final two rounds which will be played at Springfield Royal where the top-40 and ties will earn an Asian Tour card for the 2014 season after the final round.

Khalin Joshi (74-67) and Chikkarangappa (69-73) were the only two Indians out of a total of 13 to make the halfway cut. Khalin’s second round 67 that featured four birdies and a bogey catapulted him from overnight tied 132nd to tied 54th place. Chikkarangappa slipped from overnight tied 17th to tied 71st as a result of his second round score of 73. He still managed to make the cut by one shot.

Australian Kunal Bhasin (68-68) carded a second straight 68 to be placed joint sixth, two strokes off the lead.

The 11 Indian golfers to miss the cut of one-under-142 were Angad Cheema (even-par-143), Ajeetesh Sandhu (even-par-143), Kapil Kumar (one-over-144), Sujjan Singh (one-over-144), Shubhankar Sharma (two-over-145), Abhinav Lohan (three-over-146), Shankar Das (four-over-147), Karan Taunk (six-over-149), Abhijit Singh Chadha (six-over-149), Vikrant Chopra (seven-over-150) and Honey Baisoya (eight-under-151). 

Sujjan Singh, who was tied fifth after posting a 68 in round one, missed the cut as a result of his 76 in round two.
