Arjun Atwal records best result by an Indian at Senior PGA Championship with tied 17th finish

Arjun Atwal produced his best round of the week, a four-under 67, to finish tied 17th and record the best ever result by an Indian at the Senior PGA Championship.

The 51-year-old Arjun, the only Indian to taste success on the PGA Tour, shot scores of 69, 75, 68 and 67 to total five-under 279 at the Par-71 Harbor Shores Resort course in Michigan, USA.

Atwal's top-notch performance also accounted for the second top-20 by an Indian at a Senior Major. Jeev Milkha Singh's tied 14th finish at The Senior Open in 2023 continues to be the best result by an Indian at a Senior Major.

Arjun's last round consisting of seven birdies and three bogeys pushed him up 12 spots from his overnight tied 29th place.

The tournament was won by England's Richard Bland who totaled 17-under 267 for the week.

This was Atwal's third top-20 in four starts on the PGA Tour Champions this year.

The former Asia No. 1 played his rookie season on the PGA Tour Champions last year soon after turning 50 years of age.

In 2023, Arjun registered a third place finish at the PURE Insurance Championship which happens to be his best result on the tour so far.
