Khalin Joshi occupies tied second place in Singapore following his second round 74; Chikkarangappa & Ajeetesh Sandhu in tied seventh

India's Khalin Joshi shot a second round of two-over 74 to occupy tied second place at a total of three-under 141 The Singapore International at Tanah Merah Country Club.

Joshi (67-74), the overnight leader, slipped one spot on Friday to trail the leader Rattanon Wannasrichan (66) of Thailand by two strokes. Rattanon eagled the 626-yard par-five 18th to close the round in dramatic fashion and take the sole lead at the halfway stage.

Khalin shared the second position with Ratchanon Chantananuwat (66), Thailand’s 14-year-old amateur golf sensation.

The US$1million tournament is the second from last event on the Asian Tour’s 2020-21 season.

On another difficult day with strong winds on the Tampines Course, Khalin Joshi, an Asian Tour winner, made three birdies and five bogeys.

Joshi said, “My putting wasn’t good today. It wasn’t a good day on the greens for me. I struggled with the putter but overall, I am happy with the way I’m playing. Obviously, it was tough out there. It’s not going to be easy. The winds were up. I felt like I should have capitalised more earlier in the day because it wasn’t as windy as now. But overall, I’m in a good position and just looking forward to the next two days.”

The two other Indians in the top-10 were Chikkarangappa S (75-70) and Ajeetesh Sandhu (70-75) who returned rounds of 70 and 75 respectively to be tied for seventh with totals of one-over 145.

While Chikka climbed 38 places from his overnight tied 45th, Sandhu slipped four positions from his overnight tied third.

Shubhankar Sharma and Viraj Madappa were in tied 20th at four-over 148.

The three other Indians to make the cut were Shiv Kapur, Rashid Khan and Abhijit Chadha, all three placed tied 54th at seven-over 151.
