Course records on the PGTI in 2019

Here’s a look at the course records set and equaled on the TATA Steel PGTI in 2019:

 

Hyderabad Golf Club: 10-under-61 by Gaurav Pratap Singh in Round 2 of Golconda Masters 2019 Powered by Telangana Tourism

Noida’s Gaurav Pratap Singh hogged the limelight with his spectacular and error-free 10-under-61 that catapulted him 36 places to tied fourth at 11-under-131. The brawny 34-year-old, a former winner on the PGTI, entered the scoring area twirling his newly-grown handlebar moustache with pride as he went one better than the previous course record of 62 first set by Ajeetesh Sandhu in 2016 and then equalled by Amardeep Malik earlier in the week during round one.

 

Poona Club Golf Course: Eight-under-63 by Samarth Dwivedi in Round 1 of Pune Open 2019

Ahmedabad-based Samarth Dwivedi matched the course record at the Poona Club Golf Course with a stunning eight-under-63 to set the bar in round one of the Pune Open Golf Championship 2019. Dwivedi, who turned professional in 2016, thus equalled the course record set previously by C Muniyappa (2014 PGTI Qualifying School Final Stage), Chikkarangappa S (2006), S Madaiah (2005) and Vijay Kumar (2004).

 

Poona Club Golf Course: Eight-under-63 by Kapil Kumar in Round 3 of Pune Open 2019

Kapil Kumar of Delhi equalled the course record with a phenomenal eight-under-63 to jump from overnight tied 35th to tied 10th at six-under-207. His round consisting of nine birdies and a bogey helped him match the course record of 63, a number also shot in round one by Samarth Dwivedi. Kapil thus became the sixth joint course record holder along with Dwivedi, C Muniyappa, Chikkarangappa S, S Madaiah and Vijay Kumar.

 

Chandigarh Golf Club: Eight-under-64 by Sudhir Sharma in Round 2 of TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship Presented by Chandigarh Golf Club 2019

Sudhir Sharma’s exquisite eight-under-64 on day two eclipsed a long-standing course record. Greater Noida-based Sharma made nine birdies and a bogey to climb 44 positions to tied fourth at eight-under-136. The previous course record of 65 was broken after 13 long years as it was first set by legend Mukesh Kumar in 2006. Thereafter, it was matched by Gaganjeet Bhullar, Gaurav Ghei, Ranjit Singh, Shiv Kapur and the previous day by Trishul Chinnappa.

 

Chandigarh Golf Club: Eight-under-64 by Rashid Khan in Round 2 of Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational 2019 Presented by TAKE Solutions

Delhi’s Rashid Khan matched the course record with a scorching second round score of eight-under-64 to rise 23 spots to tied third at nine-under-135. Khan made an eagle and six birdies on day two to match the course record set by Sudhir Sharma earlier in the year.

 

Chandigarh Golf Club: Eight-under-64 by Abhijit Singh Chadha in Round 4 of Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational 2019 Presented by TAKE Solutions

Abhijit Singh Chadha of Chandigarh matched the course record of eight-under-64 to take a share of 15th place at seven-under-281 at his home course. Chadha’s sizzling round featured an eagle, seven birdies and a bogey as he matched the record fired earlier in the tournament by Rashid Khan and earlier in the year by Sudhir Sharma.
