Zubin Nijhawan and Akash Modi take the top honours in Pre Qualifying I, 28 players qualify for Final Stage

Panchkula’s Zubin Nijhawan (70-72) and Mumbai’s Akash Modi (71-71) took the top honours at the end of round two of the PGTI’s Pre Qualifying I for the 2020 season being held at the Kensville Golf & Country Club near Ahmedabad. The duo of Nijhawan and Modi topped the leaderboard with totals of two-under-142.

 

From a total field of 98 in Pre Qualifying I, 28 players qualified for the Final Qualifying Stage as three players were tied in 26th position when the cut was declared at eight-over-152.

 

Nijhawan, the overnight joint leader, kept his lead on day two as he sank four birdies in exchange for a bogey and a triple-bogey.

 

Modi, lying overnight third and one shot off the lead, made two birdies and a bogey on Sunday to move into joint first place. 

 

Pankaj Maandiya (74-70) of Mhow finished third at even-par-144.

 

Noida’s Manpreet Mann and Gurugram-based amateur Kartik Sharma were tied fourth at one-over-145.
