Shubhankar Sharma continues in tied third for second successive day at Italian Open, lies three off the lead
India's Shubhankar Sharma continued in tied third for the second day in succession at the Italian Open after he followed up his first round of five-under-66 with a two-under-69 in round two.
Reigning Asian Tour Order of Merit champion Shubhankar made six birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey at the Olgiata Golf Club on Friday to total seven-under-135 at the halfway mark of the fifth event in the European Tour’s Rolex Series.
Sharma, the 2018 European Tour Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award winner, now trails the leader Matthew Fitzpatrick of England by three shots.
Shubhankar was one-over for the day through 12 holes before he charged back into contention with three birdies on his last six holes.
Sharma, a two-time European Tour winner, is still searching for his first top-10 on the European Tour this season.
