Lahiri drops to tied sixth in round three but stays in the title hunt at A Military Tribute, lies three off the lead
Anirban Lahiri recovered from a poor front nine to stay in the title hunt after battling to a third round one-over-par 71 at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier on Saturday.
The 2015 Asian Tour number one, lying tied second and one off the lead after round two, got off to a bogey-bogey start on day three before dropping two more shots on holes seven and nine. His four bogeys on the front-nine were a result of some erratic hitting and a couple of three-putts.
Anirban steadied ship on his homeward nine with three birdies to finish on 11-under-par 199. Lahiri's back-nine included two birdie conversions from 11 feet.
Lahiri, who had shot an Indian record of nine-under-61 in round two and was bogey-free for the first two rounds, is tied in sixth place and trails the leaders, the American duo of Harold Varner III and Kelly Kraft, by three shots.
