Himmat Rai moves into tied seventh after second round 67 at Sarawak Championship
India's Himmat Rai moved into tied seventh position in round two of the Asian Tour's Sarawak Championship as a result of his five-under-67.
Rai, a former Asian Tour winner, who had shot a first round of 68, took his total to nine-under-135 at the halfway stage.
Himmat made six birdies over the first 12 holes including three in succession from the eighth to the 10th. He dropped his only bogey of the day on the 17th.
The lead was held by American Paul Peterson at 14-under-130.
Gaganjeet Bhullar was the second Indian in the top-10 as he fired a second straight 68 to be tied 10th at eight-under-136.
Chikkarangappa's 67 on Thursday ensured that he closed the day in tied 15th at seven-under-137.
Khalin Joshi and Aman Raj were in tied 24th at six-under-138.
Ajeetesh Sandhu was tied 37th at five-under-139 while Honey Baisoya and Jeev Milkha Singh were a further shot behind in tied 50th.
Rashid Khan occupied tied 62nd at three-under-141.
Elsehwere, at the European Tour's Irish Open, SSP Chawrasia began with a first round of one-over-73 to be tied 66th while Shubhankar Sharma's two-over-74 placed him tied 92nd.
At the PGA Tour's A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, Anirban Lahiri made a solid start with a three-under-67 in round one to lie tied 24th.
