Anirban Lahiri occupies tied third, lies two off the lead, ahead of final round of PGA Tour's CJ Cup
Anirban Lahiri rose into contention for his maiden PGA Tour title as he was one of the best performers on an extremely windy third day of the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, a PGA Tour event being played in Jeju Island, Korea.
Lahiri (69-71-69) carded a three-under-69 on Saturday to move into tied third place at seven-under-209. The 30-year-old Indian, whose career-best finish on the PGA Tour is a tied second at the Memorial in 2017, now trails the joint leaders, Americans Justin Thomas and Scott Brown, by just two shots.
Starting the day five shots off the lead, Lahiri produced four birdies and one bogey on the day to gain an impressive 12 spots from his overnight tied 15th position. He shares third place with Australian Marc Leishman.
Anirban made birdies on the second, fifth, and the 10th. He even held the joint lead for a brief period. The bogey on the 16th was his only blemish of the day.
Come Sunday and Lahiri, a winner of seven international titles and a regular on the PGA Tour, will be in with a chance of becoming only the second Indian to win on the PGA Tour after Arjun Atwal.
