PGTI Players Championship presented by Panchkula Golf Club to begin on September 24th

Mukesh Kumar, Shamim Khan, Chiragh Kumar, Ashok Kumar top names in the field

Sujjan Singh, Harendra Gupta, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Harmeet Kahlon, Angad Cheema to lead local challenge

The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has announced the PGTI Players Championship presented by Panchkula Golf Club from September 24 – 27, 2013. The tournament offers a prize purse of Rs. 30 lakh.

The PGTI Players Championship will feature top Indian professionals such as Mukesh Kumar (current Rolex Rankings leader), Shamim Khan (reigning Rolex Rankings champion), Chiragh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rashid Khan, Om Prakash Chouhan, Shankar Das, Manav Jaini, Vinod Kumar and Gaurav Ghei, to name a few. Leading the local challenge will be Chandigarh-based professionals Sujjan Singh, Harendra Gupta, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Harmeet Kahlon and Ranjit Singh as well as Panchkula’s Angad Cheema among others. Kunal Bhasin (Australia) and Md Zamal Hossain Mollah (Bangladesh) are the top professionals from overseas playing the event.

The renovation on the course is in the final stages with completion of work expected by February-March 2014. The newly-renovated course will present a tough challenge to the professionals.

The Panchkula Golf Club is fortunate to have Mr. P K Chaudhery, IAS (Chief Secretary, Haryana and President of Panchkula Golf Club) as its President, who being an avid golfer himself, wants to develop the course to international standards. He has taken a keen interest in all developments and activities in the Club.”

The Panchkula Golf Club, situated on the Ambala-Panchkula-Kalka-Shimla Highway and spread over an area of 135 acres is one of the premier championship courses in north India. It is situated at an alluring location on the banks of the river Ghaggar.The backdrop of the Shivalik Hills lends a picturesque view to the course.
