Anirban Lahiri begins BMW Championship with a 67, lies tied 14th

Rahil Gangjee best placed Indian at Shinhan Donghae Open

Anirban Lahiri made a fabulous start at the PGA Tour's BMW Championship in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Anirban returned a four-under-67 to be placed tied 14th in round one. He was five off the lead.

Lahiri had qualified for this week's event, featuring a field of 70, as the last man in, being placed 70th in the FedEx Cup standings at the end of the previous PGA Tour event in Boston two weeks back.

The Indian star, who recently also made it to the International Team for next month's Presidents Cup, for the second time in his career, fired seven birdies against three bogeys in the opening round of the BMW Championship on Thursday.

Elsewhere, at the Asian Tour's Shinhan Donghae Open in Korea, Rahil Gangjee was the best placed Indian at the halfway stage. He was in tied 27th position at one-under-141.

Defending champion Gaganjeet Bhullar was the only other Indian to make the cut. Bhullar, in tied 55th, made the cut by one shot as his two-day total read two-over-144.
