    Slow start for Lahiri & Kapur at The Open

    Indian stars Anirban Lahiri and Shiv Kapur fired identical three-over-par 73s in the opening round of The Open on Thursday.

    Lahiri, the 2015 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion, struggled with a cold putter while Kapur was disappointed to drop two shots in his closing three holes at Royal Birkdale.

    Anirban Lahiri qualifies for The Open

    Indian star Anirban Lahiri will play in his first Major tournament in 2017 after qualifying for The Open which will be staged at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club next week. 


    The 2015 Asian Tour number one qualified for the year’s third Major championship after Scott Piercy of the United States withdrew from the tournament.
